1. Personal Information
The Japan Electrical Manufacturers’ Association (hereinafter referred to as JEMA) promotes the overall development of electrical equipment, power-generating equipment, nuclear power plant manufacturing and related industries as its goal. By this means, it hopes to improve and upgrade the prosperity of the nation and its people and to contribute to the continuing development of our economy. Our main activities include improving our member companies’ business environments, creating new business opportunities, offering statistics and seminars, and tackling environmental issues as common tasks of other industries, etc. Throughout all activities JEMA recognises the protection of personal information as an important social responsibility.
On the basis of the following policies on personal information protection, JEMA manages personal information properly and by complying with related laws and guidelines. Here, personal information is that obtained through our activities and identifies individual persons (hereinafter referred to as “personal information”).
Concretely, personal information contained in documents, electronic media and our website refers to a name, addresses, phone number, email address, company name and other information which can identify a specific individual. It also includes information which can not identify a specific individual directly but could identify an individual after comparison with related information.
2. Use of Personal Information
JEMA uses personal information in its activities for the following purposes only:
- JEMA's periodicals, reports and other pamphlets
- JEMA's management of annual general meetings, board of directors, committees, seminars, fairs and events, etc
- JEMA's management of committees by its secretariats
- JEMA's websites
- JEMA's information such as periodicals, reports, standardization, and pamphlets, etc. which is offered by JEMA
- Inquiries and consultations to JEMA
- Notices and questionnaires by Government offices
- Others (i.e. those related to matters operated and managed by JEMA)
If the use of personal information for the above purposes could incur any disadvantage to related individuals, we do not use it.
3. Providing Personal Information
Personal information is not disclosed nor provided to a third party except for the following cases:
- In a case where the provision is carried out with the prior consent of the principal individual.
- In a case where the provision is in accordance with the related laws.
- In a case where the provision is required to protect the life, person, or property of an individual and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the principal.
- In a case where the provision is particularly necessary to improve public health and sanitation or to promote the sound upbringing of children and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the principal.
- In a case where a business is required to cooperate with a government organization, local authority, or a person commissioned by any one of them, for the purpose of accomplishing official business as set forth by law and where obtaining the consent of the principal carries the risk of hindering the accomplishment of such official business.
4. Personal Information Management
JEMA manages personal information strictly for the above purposes, prevents unauthorised access, loss, destruction, falsification, leakage, etc. of personal information and also takes necessary rational measures through training for employee and well-organised systems such as restrictions on access to the information.
When outsourcing our management including personal information to other companies, JEMA chooses and contracts out the most appropriate supplier according to our policy. The contract also includes the following matters: re-outsourcing, an obligation of confidentiality, a term of contract, responsibilities for accidents, a return/deletion of personal information when a contract ends, and a breach of contract.
5. Inquiry, Correction and Deletion of Personal Information
JEMA complies with requests to delete and correct personal information if there are any such requests from the person concerned.
